Our Language

Bokonton does not de jure have an official language, but the predominant spoken language is English (a West Germanic language descended from Old English which features a large number of borrowings from Old NorseNorman French and Latin), although here are some vocabulary words-definitions you won't find in many dictionaries.

Rather than being specific to Bokonton, this vocab is mainly intermicronational.

Bokontonian Mean Time (BMT); the standard time of the micronation Bokonton. 30 minutes ahead of GMT (Greenwich Mean Time).

Macronation; A macronation is what micronationalists sometimes call 'recognized states'. This impression is not entirely correct or comprehensive. Macronations in of themselves are just medium- to large-sized nations, irrespective of whether they are actual recognized states or not. Under this perspective then, macronations can also be non-states, and are in fact Fourth World nations.

Micronation, Micronational;micronation (cybernationfantasy countrymodel countrynew country projectpseudonationcounternationephemeral stateonline nation, and variants thereof) is an entity intended to replace, resemble, mock, or exist on equal footing with recognized independent states

Specific to Bokonton:-

The Mool; mode of exchange.

Moolah; One Bokontonian pound.

A Zii; One Bokontonian penny.

The Gate;  Early on in Bokonton history, all residences, including the palace, had a gate. Nowadays this means the entrance to somewhere-regardless of there being a physical gate there or not. i.e " I'll meet you at Waterstones' Gate" . Waterstones does not actually have a gate, but an entrance.

'Valetido!' ;  bastardisation of the Latin word, valetudo. Commonly used as a greeting.
